What is Enhanced Fine Art Photography ?

An analogy: A traditional oil painter squeezes any number of pigments onto a pallet, then manipulates those colors with various brushes and other tools to create (hopefully) a masterpiece on canvas.

The Digital Photo Artists pallet consists of one or more photographic images or, more accurately, the elements within those images, which are then manipulated with the various tools available to create a truly unique perspective. In my mind's eye photographs all appear to be worth many more than a "1000 words." With my discovery of computer imaging I can more closely tell the "whole story," at least the way I see it. Normal is frequently much more intriguing and compelling than we think.

For a detailed illustration of the “pallet” and the resulting art, take a tour of the Enchanted Forest.

While it's entirely possible, with some of the more advanced programs, to convert a photograph to a very believable oil or watercolor rendering it still looks like a reproduction. Thus I prefer to exploit the digital medium for its own distinctive characteristics, so take a stroll through my Enhanced Fine Art Photography Gallery , have some fun and buy a print or two.

Photographic images used in the Gallery compositions are predominately shot by me. I have, however, used a few particularly wonderful and inspirational photographs by others. I would like to give credit to those artists on this page.

Ideas for Commissioned Photo Manipulations

We can do all sorts of really delightful things with your favorite photos. How about a distinctive portrait of that special someone, a cherished keepsake of your loyal hunting partner, or maybe a novel rendition of that released trophy trout?

Not only can those old faded and seemingly ruined photos be restored and retouched, but they can be “hand tinted or colored” as well. These same techniques can be applied to a recent photo in reverse to make it look “old”.

Or perhaps you're feeling a little frivolous and we add a little humor with a zany caricature.

“Is it real or is it.....” Photo Illustration is the art of realistically altering a photograph to appear as something entirely different. This can come in quite handy when that rambunctious nephew ruins an otherwise perfect wedding photo.

Original Limited Edition Digital Photo Art Prints

All Enhanced Fine Art Photography Gallery and contract/custom “Giclee” prints are produced with the latest 7 color inkjet technology and have a projected life span of 70 plus years.

A variety of heavy weight papers are available from a fine art paper to photo papers that have the same substance, feel and image quality of a photographic print.

Gallery prints are a limited edition of 99 and individually signed, numbered and printed on heavy weight,10.4 mil, acid free paper. My paper of choice is Epson Premium Luster, due to its ability to render brighter colors.

Prints are available alone, matted or matted and framed. Click “info/buy” at the bottom of each image in the gallery for individual specs, pricing and online purchase.

A note about matting and framing:the gallery prints are available matted with acid free double mats or matted and framed. The frames are low profile metal (3/8"reveal) with a "frosted gunmetal" or matte black finish depending on availability. Mats are hinged to each other and to archival foam core backing with acid free cloth tape. Prints are mounted to the backing to allow for expansion and contraction. The glazing is UV protected, no-glare acrylic..
